José Luiz obtained a B.S. degree in Agronomy at the Universidade Estadual Paulista “Julio de Mesquita Filho” (UNESP, Jaboticabal, Brazil) in 2011. During his B.S. degree, Jose Luiz had the opportunity to spend 6 months at the UF/IFAS Range Cattle Research and Education Center, working in the forage weed science program under the advisement Dr. Brent Sellers. In 2013, José Luiz started a M.S. program in the same institution where he got his B.S. degree, working under advising of Dr. Dagoberto Martins investigating the selectivity of s-metolachlor, clomazone, sulfentrazone, diclosulam and metribuzin applied pre-planting of pre-budded seedlings of different sugarcane cultivars. After the completion of his M.S. in 2014, José Luiz started his Ph.D. at the University of Florida, under the advisement of Dr. Brent Sellers. After graduation, José started a postdoctoral position at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, under the advisement of Dr. Mark Renz

Biography:

José Luiz Carvalho de Souza is the oldest son of Reinaldo de Souza Dias and Dulce Maria Carvalho de Souza Dias; and brother of Ricardo Carvalho de Souza Dias. José Luiz was born in Ribeirão Preto, São Paulo, Brazil.
